Venice

Venice

moving on to our 3rd pit stop... train was scheduled to be at 1207pm and we were both at platform 8 as dictated by the departure notice board by 1115am.... uber kaisu right??? hahahaha.... no choice lo...cos each ticket cost us 43 euro leh...there's no regional and intercity train from florence to venice in the timing we wanted so can only take the expensive eurostar train....=S

Firenze S.M.N. = Florence Santa Maria Novella

Our barang barangs....we lugged 4 x 1.5l of drinking water to venice.... cos we just had the impression that venice is gonna be a super expensive place (which is true) and we dun know if we can find supermarket over there (there are supermarkets in venice and even more accessible than those in florence...)

Mr Ang busy playing with the monopoly game on my handphone

so from 1115 to 12, Mr Ang was busy playing monopoly while i was just hugging him from his back like a koala bear and watching him play.... nobody took note of the time cos the only device that was set to florence time was my handphone which Mr Ang was playing monopoly with.... by the time i asked,"Dear, how come the train is not here yet ah?"... it was 12 noon liao...

Mr Ang ran to check the departure screen which was about 50m away and realised that our train was on platform 10 instead of platform 8 which we were at.... by the time he ran back to me and our luggage, it was 1204pm liao.... so how leh????.... RAN FOR OUR DEAR TRAIN la...but ah, our luggage was super heavy la (remember the 4 x 1.5l water bottle) and the air was dry so both of us couldnt really run that fast....

Mr Ang shouted,"Dear, let's jump track."

Mrs Ang thought in her head,"what shit la... jump track so dangerous... what if another train comes choo-choo-ing into track 9???? and with such a heavy bag, how to jump down this platform, cross track 9 and up the next platform mah??? somemore the train doors closed liao lo.... so she shouted back,"NO, I M NOT GOING TO JUMP TRACK...DUN BE CRAZY AH! WHY DUN U RUN FASTER AND GET THE TRAIN PPL TO WAIT FOR US?"

then choo choo choo choo....our train choo choo out of the station right on the dot...1207pm...without the 2 of us.... ='(

so what do these two super kiasu singaporeans who reached the platform 52 minutes earlier and yet still MISSED the train do leh..... act blur at the helpdesk lo.... luckily the lady was very nice, highlighted to us that we should have referred to the departure screen 15 minutes before departure for any updates as there might be last minutes changes (which is what had happened to our train) and kindly re-issue another ticket for us...

So after all the panic and all the running and all the explaining, Mr and Mrs Ang managed to hop onto the next train to Venice.... which is just 23 minutes later than the one we were supposed to catch.... =)

can you imagine if we really do jump track??? 2 asian clowns will be struggling with their bags and water bottles while they jump down platform 8, crossed track 9 and up platform 10, station controllers will be running towards us with whistle, announcement of "please get off the track" will be repeated endlessly...i can even imagine how i will have to roll up platform 10 (which is at least 80cm tall) with Mr Ang helping me with my bag lo... =P...luckily no such thing happened....

anyway, we were in venice 2 hours later and it was super easy to locate our hotel...it was less than 5 minutes walk way.... =) ...

interesting way to dress up a key...=)

our room sweet room in venice

looks good right cos it is bloody expensive la...the most expensive one among all 5 hotels which i booked...it cost us 100 euro per night which is a freaking S$180 la....

the big toilet..... i told Mr Ang that the bowl beside the usual toilet bowl was for guys to pee in but he refuses to believe me....

had a small balcony which we used to dry our laundry... =) ...sun was super strong in venice and our clothes were dried within half a day... =) ...much to Mr Ang's delight... he kept wanting to wash his clothes in Venice....hahaha

settled down quickly and proceeded to lunch.... starving....and got ripped off once more....

A very unhappy Mr Ang with his plate of expensive (10 euro) yet not delicious carbonara

My even worse pork chop that cost 12 euro and have no side dish....faint....

Photos to dipict what we saw in Venice...it's not really water water everywhere... there can be alot of walking too as all the places are actually linked by bridges so it's walkable everywhere....we actually find it easier to walk from our place to all the attractions (btw, there are only 2 of them only) by just following the signages than to take the waterbuses...

cheapest gelato for us so far....=)

towers and more towers...churches and more churches till i cant be bothered to remember their names liao...hahahaha....just snapped, snapped and snapped...like what we overheard from a chinese tourist in Lucca... 拍这么多也不知道在拍些什么.....

HOT DOG.....so fat....hahahaha.....

no...we din take the gondola...found it too expensive liao... heard it was 80 euro for a 40 minutes ride lo.... crazy.... so we took pictures with it instead....

the weather was super super hot ....even the birds were taking cold shower from the water which the cold drink seller used to keep his drinks cold...

Things sold in Venice....

glass accessories from Murano (famous for their glass blowing),

sweets (we tried, not nice de),

leather products

and plenty plenty of masks

Our favourite restaurant in Venice, provide free wifi.... needed it as our hotel will charge us 3 euro per hour lo.... crazy...then dun wanna pay the hotel.... somemore we get to leech the restaurant network cos we are staying just a few units away from them... =P ...but not very stable...kept getting dc.... so will still return to the restaurant... luckily food not too exp... =)

my favourite - tiramisu with nutella @ 4 euro.... =) ... bestest of the bestest

mushroom and ham pizza for him and aglio oglio for me again... =)

everyone says that venice is a super romantic place, even Mr Ang's secondary school teacher who we bumped into in florence....but Mr Ang and I just couldnt feel any romantica feeling leh..... so we purposely took a walk after dinner and sat ourselves down by the 河畔...

but dun you think it looks just like our Singapore River by Clarke Quey??? hahahaha
