ATPP Exhibition - rainbow tree

i have to submit two 3D and four 2D artwork and one personal project for this exhibition making it a total of 7 artworks.... stress to the max.... but thankfully, i can use up to 3 pieces from the ATPP program as part of the submission..... heee..... so i only need to create at least 4 more pieces or work by first week of jan 2013 can liao ....

the theme that i chose for my exhibition is 'Love'.... the difference between the love that mr ang and I share and the love that bonds the chuas together....

for the purpose of the exhibition, i have to exaggerate the differences between the two types of 'love' so that i can create a contrast in my artwork... hahaha.....

Disclaimer: i do love the chuas as much as i love mr ang, if not more...

(1) Origami Rainbow Tree
Lovers in Flight
Love is every colour, everything, everywhere. Imagine a colour and love is right there.”

made from taping 180 (173 small ones and 7 big ones) origami butterflies onto a tree branch....  it's a super tedious piece of work as each origami butterfly took me between 3 - 4 minutes to complete due to the delicacy of the folding paper which were made from tissue paper

this rainbow tree represented the love between mr ang and me..... vibrant.... happiness.... basically mr ang just has the ability to put a smile on my face just like how a rainbow puts a smile on those who see it....

why butterflies then??? cos they represent 'lovers' .... duh!!!!

anyway, got this idea from urban origami installation ....love the rainbow colours of the origami that the artist used to create her work

and origami is one of my favourite art form too ... cos it is the only art form that i can do perfectly just by following instructions.... hahaha.... have memories of folding shirts and hearts using bus tickets long long ago .... folding stars and flowers from straws were also accomplished before oh....

And i have this children storybook "What colour is love?" where mummy elephant told baby elephant:

“Love is every colour, everything, everywhere. Imagine a colour and love is right there.”

anyway, this art work was created with mr ang's "involvement"..... the tree branch was picked up by mr ang and myself .... i spotted it while we took the bus to hougang mall to have our breakfast one morning.....

and most of the small butterflies were folded in the presence of him too.... i was folding them while he mugged for his exams in mac during the late night study week.....
