Day 8 in Japan - Nissin Cup Noodle Museum @ Yokohama

initial plan was to cover both shin-yokohama ramen museum and the nissin cup noodle museum as they were just about 20 mins by train away from each other but we had to sacrifice the former due to the visit to the owl cafe (in the next post) that was brought forward a day because of the availability of limited slots....

anyway took the shinkansen hikari from tokyo to shin-yokohama followed by the yokohama city subway to Sakuragicho station... then cross the road and walked towards yokohama world porters mall....

... this gigantic ferris wheel looked super familiar.... i think i was here with the gals back in 2007

only realised that the ferris wheel was part of an open concept theme park - Cosmo World @ Yokohama... nopx... we din have time for this theme park on this trip...

our main objective was this red building...

entrance fee was at 500¥ (S$5.50) each

were super upset that the next available slot of the cup noodle factory activity was at 1230pm ... our schedule was to leave the place by 1pm to be in time for our owl cafe appointment at 3pm at Akihabara....

but we decided to risk it and just go for it... hopping that we could all finish our cup noodle cup design and packaging within the time frame

first stop: the gallery where all the noodles produced by nissin were archived

this was their first invention 56 years ago!!!

蔡 mummy has very slim legs ah.... thanks and no thanks to a chain of health issues since last dec... thank god, all is good now... =)

the 3 columns on the right looked familiar right????

cos they are sold in Singapore la

where we watched a 14 minute animation film on about how the invention of nissin instant noodle came about and how it ended up being in a cup...

there were actually quite a number of activities, especially for the kids, to enjoy at this museum...

super 乖 kiddos listening attentively to the facilitators... =)

cool idea for a upscale art project... =)

our favourite gallery where we got to design our cup noodle....
first we had to buy the empty nissin cup from a vending machine at 300¥ (S$3.30) ... all of us bought 3 each... heee

then we had to sterilise our hands

third, sit down and start drawing!!!!

we had so much fun drawing (doodling) that we forgot that time was not on our side.... oopx....

with our artistic designs... =)

mum has a friend called "肥肥"... she didnt know how to write the word "肥"... being a teacher, i refused to write it for her so i wrote it on the back of my left hand so that she could look at it and write it onto the cup herself..... and this was the reason why the word "肥" was on my hand in the video attached below and in the many many photos which i took at the owl cafe (next post)... =S

my signature icon.... the same one that i have been using since sec sch....

placing the instant noodles into the cup

choosing up to 4 ingredients for each cup

sealing the cup with the content

and finally packing the cups into a bubble bag

task accomplished!!!!

no time for lunch.... grabbed a doughnut outside the train station and off we chiong to our next destination.... not forgetting to get a little sourvinr from the gift shop though... =)

requested for super huge plastic bag to keep all the bubbled cup noodles ... luving the quotes

PS: a super detailed description with beautiful pics of all the different galleries and activities in this museum can be found in this blog
