took Line 3 subway to Gyeongbokgung station and while we were walking towards exit 2, we passed by this mirror art installation
from exit 2 of the station, walk straight for about 170m and turn left onto Jahamun-ro 5-gil Road and the famous Tosokchon Ginseng Chicken restaurant is located 10m ahead on the left
we were showed into a tiny room with 3 low tables where we had our meal while seated on the floor
洪妈妈's, mine, mr ang and 洪爸爸's....spot the couple shoes!!!!
free flow of kimchi
a plate of seafood pancake and 2 pots of ginseng chicken cost us 69000 won (S$80.70)....
surprisingly, there wasn't much ginseng taste and smell in the chicken and soup... happiness.... me no fan of ginseng.... the ginseng was wrapped in the rice within the chicken so all the goodness (taste and flavour) was in the rice....
took our time to have a good rest before we made our way to our next place of visit - Gyeongbokgung Palace
mysteriously lighted subway tunnel and a pretty pretty clay work on one of the pillars
Gyeongbokgung Palace ...
#close on Tuesdays #9am-6pm #3000won(S$3.50)
paid 3000won (S$3.50) each just to see this; once a king's throne..... and yet we couldnt even go near it.... =S
so many korean girls were in their hanbok that day....
the main purpose of visiting this palace and not any other palace was because i had wanted to observe the guard changing ceremony... i had took note of the timing based on the numerous blogs i read prior to this trip and even double confirmed with the palace's main website....
we had arrived shortly after 2pm and was planning to catch the 3pm ceremony.... we loitered around the palace and took all the pics above yet keeping track of the time.... by 2.45pm, i was at the information counter asking for the exact location for the ceremony.... only to be informed that all the ceremonies were OVER!!!!
from this notice, the new timing are those in RED... they had cut down the number of ceremonies since the start of 2016..... and we missed the last ceremony at 2pm by just a quarter of an hour!!!!
Well.... at least i gotten pic of the clear props 'ceremony'..... (T.T)~
with a disappointed heart, we checked out the National Palace Museum which was located to the left of Gyeongbokgung Palace
their exams were in chinese?!?!?!?!
How did then evolve into Korean characters????
The Library.... reminds me of the show "Sungkyunkwan Scandal" which my current eye candy Song Joong Ki acted in.... drool!!!
The Monkey King
did a quick walk through and we were off to our last place of visit for the day... Dongdaemun Design Plaza ... =D
