Day 1 of Penang - Penang Hill + the Floating Mosque + China House + our apartment

"Jetstar having promotion. Dirt cheap to Bangkok!!!" an out of the blue whatsapp from WY in end jan resulted in an immediately booking of our flight ticket to Penang instead at less than $90 each for the March holiday... =D

fast forward 6 weeks later and tatatata

our first meal in Penang was at this 不起眼 'restaurant' along the way from the airport to George Town

recommended by our driver for its unique 7 colour rice platter

dishes were self-service...

not much variety for us to choose from since we dun take beef and lamb

total damage : $31rm inclusive of 4 glasses of lime juice

after a 45 mins queue, we finally gotten our ticket at $30rm each

and another 1+ hour later in yet another queue, we finally boarded the tram

with many many other people

to ascend up up up the hill

to see this bird eye view of Penang

spotted some pretty flowers

and an abandoned mansion too... =P
sneaky lene hiding behind me to look smaller right?!?!?!?! hmmm.....

choo choo choo choo.... up came another tram....

the weather was too hot... there was nothing much to do uphill except to stare at the bird eye view .... yet we were not ready to just go back down so soon since we had queued so long just to get up so we decided to chill ourselves with some icy drinks....
moi lime juice and with another 2 glasses for lene and WY, it cost us $50.6 rm.. 真的是杀人放火 ah!!!

to Lebuh Kimberley (Street) for famous street food - just queue where there's long queue 就对了!!!

duck egg fried mee ... kuay tiao was sold out by the time we reached at about 4pm?!?!?!?!?

we had ordered a pack fried with chicken egg ($6 rm) and another pack that was fried with duck egg ($6.50 rm) so that we could compare the taste... well, the one fried with duck egg was instead richer in favour....

The Floating Mosque

which is not exactly floating.... it just extends out into the sea... on stilt....hmmmm.....

above pic from a impatient photographer (aka Mrs Ang) using a cracked screen, point & shoot camera vs a patient photographer (read: can take so many shots of the same subject from different angles and with different (very similar) tunnings) using a dslr (below)

our ride for the trip... =) ... very spacious, very clean and came with a very friendly driver.... initial plan was to engage her for 2 days; first & last day of the trip - to and from airport and for the rest of that 2 days....

but thanks to the driver's wonderful service and no thank to the unforgiving sun, we engaged her for all 4 days of our trip.... best part was; her rates was super affordable at only $30rm per hour... =D ... do give her a ring at 0164860661 if you need a driver for your next Penang trip...

since it was still early to call it a night, we decided to visit China House... it was full house in the main hall hence we were ushered into the side lounge - a dark dark cozy cozy corner
