Day 1 in Johor Bahru

Happi Angs waiting for the bus to kick start our 3 days 2 nights trip to JB ...

In case some of you were wondering how did my South Africa trip got downgraded to a JB trip this year- end holiday... well, that's because NIE student teacher (Mr Ang) hols and primary school teacher (Mrs Ang) hols only overlap by this one week... by the time Mr Ang confirmed his holiday schedule in September, flight prices to one week holiday destination that i am interested in such as Osaka were already ridiculously high ... Taiwan and Bangkok were not taken into consideration as we were just in Taiwan this last June and Mr Ang was in bkk with his classmates just last week...

Anyway, we opted for the super slow-mo train to cross the causeway at S$5 each... We were the last few to board the train and didn't bother to locate our seats since it was only a 5 minutes ride...

The 老 kok kok train interior
Though the seats were really dirty , I would still consider taking the train in for future JB trip as the queue at the train custom was definitely much shorter than the usual bus custom...

Then we transferred to the bus to ksl

To have lunch at our favourite bak kut teh stall

$59.20rm inclusive of my favourite 爱玉冰

Then it was check-in at Holiday Villa, our accommodation for the trip which is just next to ksl and highly recommended by both Mr ang's and my friends... paid $650rm for 2 nights stay, inclusive of the tourism tax of $10rm/ night

Food coma after lunch

Then went to make a pair of computer spects @$206rm at the optical shop in ksl which Mr Ang made his last year...

so now we have matchy matchy spects ... =D

headed to the famous ksl night market which is only open on Monday at about 5pm...

1st nom nom - gula melaka kuay tu tu @ 5 for $5rm

2nd nom nom - egg muffin with ham @ $4rm

3rd nom nom - mua chee @ $4rm

Super long queue... but lucky us bumped into Mr Ang's schoolmates who were already in the queue... Heee ..

4th nom nom - onigiri @$3.50rm each

Drinks @ $2rm per cup

maybe it was the heavy bak kut teh lunch, maybe it was the nap after the heavy bak kut teh lunch, maybe it was the crowd at the pasar malam.... we felt super full just after all these small bites listed above.... =S....

i still have not tried the fried chicken drumstick and the black carrot cake which many raved about online....these stalls are located near the end of the stretch...  shall start my nom nom quest from the centre of the pasar malam next time round...

spotted my childhood CNY must play item and bought 3 boxes @ $2rm.... was surprised to see that they are so colourfully packaged.... it used to be all in white right?!?!?!?!

proceeded back to ksl to check out the movie timing and was glad to be able to catch Ah Boys to Men 4 @ 8pm.... one movie ticket cost $13rm only ...

though Mr Ang said he was super full, he still managed to finish a bowl of signature blackball dessert before the movie started...

delighted to chance upon this supper truck right outside ksl on our way back to the hotel after the movie...

12 sticks of grilled yong tau foo cost $29rm

that's our accommodation (Holiday Villa) in the background.... ksl is just across the road on the right... that's how convenient everything was for us for this trip... =D

Happy Angs enjoying our first night in JB...
