(3 times more mafan than cooking maggi mee cos need to boil the macaroni first, then boil the ingredients then mix everything together in the spaghetti sauce)
taste: 3/5
(way too salty... maybe was because i added too much salt during the boiling of the macaroni... i added the amount that was meant for the whole pack of macaroni when i only used about 20%... =P , maybe was also because of the slice of cheese i added in... )
price: $1.90
macaroni (20% x $1.95) = $0.39
Fishball (12.5% x $2.95) = $0.37
Crabstick (6.5% x $2.15) = $0.14
spagetti sauce (50% x $2) = $1
super proud and impressed with myself at cooking 5 dishes in the last third of March... realised a few new things about myself at this new found activity:
(1) love to cook broccoli cos it's just so easy.. boil for 2 minutes then drizzle with sesame oil and it can taste so good... wahahaha
(2) i have to finish one type of ingredient before i will cook another that belongs to the same category... example, i have to finish cooking the whole broccoli which will take up 3-4 meals before i will start cooking the kailan... similarly, i have to finish cooking all 3 bundles of mee suan before i will start cooking the macaroni....
i cannot stand the idea of having similar items all in half half packaging...
(3) i don't like the idea of having to deal with raw meat...
(4) i like tabulating how much is each dish to the minute cents.... wahahaha....
29 March

28 March having cereal for breakfast is like a childhood dream come true... that's why i will always definitely have a bowl of cornflakes with milk whenever it's available at breakfast buffet on all my travel or staycations... =) since young, i already know that i dislike waking up early and dislike cooking so waking up early to cook breakfast for myself or anyone is confirm a no-no-no ... i even imagined having a row of cereals for me to choose on different morning (saw that sheldon does this in BBT, maybe that's y i like him so much... heee) eventually it didn't happen because of my laziness and love for nua-ing in bed, i grew up not needing breakfast... but was happy to chance upon this when i went ingredient shopping for weekend cooking ....

the aftermath just for cooking tofu & broccoli.... REGRET!!!
21 March was still in the mood to cook... more of wanting to use up the broccoli that was left... was considering broccoli omelette that's why bought the bottle of oil ... wanted to buy macaroni but it was out of stock and decided to buy mee suan instead... don't know how to cook mee suan soup the 蔡妈咪's way so replaced it with ready made soup, the Campbell way... heee spent another $11 @ NTUC... really doesnt make much economical sense for a meal... =S
Mee Suan in Mushroom Soup + Broccoli

Mee suan (33% x $0.75) = $0.25
Campbell Soup (33% of $3.45) = $1.15
20 March too moody to walk across to have meals... too sick of maggi mee... too stingy to rely on Grab food... got to a point that i was contemplating if i should explore cooking.... hmmm
and when was the last time i cooked a proper dish??? Alfred will definitely have the correct answer... it was when 蔡妈咪 gave birth to Angela back in 1994 and i was tasked to do all the housework and to ensure that Alfred who was 4 years old at that time was fed.... god knows why i even bothered to try to cook when there was a coffee shop below our house.... poor him, had to eat weird yucky food for at least one meal before i decided to stop torturing our tastebuds and tummies... =S
finally put my plans into action when i chanced upon a similar video in fb yesterday... =)
found these 家当 in the kitchen cabinet
frozen shrimp in the freezer
bought these from NTUC @ $17.40... doesnt make economical sense if this is the one and only time i m cooking... =S
forgot to sieve the egg through the strainer and didnt use the cling wrap cos the bowl was kind of small with the broccoli floating beyond the rim... found out that these two missing steps were the reasons why my egg wasnt smooth and silky...
tatatata.... the dish looking cooked enough for consumption after 15 minutes... =)
Steamed Egg with Broccoli, Tofu & Shrimp
effort: 5/5
(I COOKED!!!)
edibility: 5/5
(i finished the whole bowl)
taste: 3/5
(broccoli was soft... i like... luv the tofu too... but what could go wrong with tofu anyway... overall was too bland for my liking despite adding soy sauce & sesame oil to the steamed dish as taught in the video.... )
18 March accompanied 蔡妈咪 for Dr Leong's consultation on the status of her left lung ... super happy to hear that the lump was successfully removed/reduced from the 3 sessions of radiotherapy she went through last december.... =)
Had lunch at 聚豪 Square 2 and she luv luv the 酸辣汤... =)
8 March thanks to Angela's 80% of 蔡妈咪's culinary level, mummy's appetite has improved so much and along with it, her energy level has gone up too...
her happiness now is having yummilious home-cooked food and having all of us home for dinner... 28 Feb
didnt go home for two weeks and angela texted to say that cai mummy missed me to the extend till she was crying this morning...
video called her when i got home from school and she cried after i hung up... see the teary eyes.... awww... 傻妈咪...
Thank you for loving me and still missing me so much when u just didnt see me for 2 weeks.... this is family... this is love...
be nicer to your parents, you never know when u will just lose the person who loves you unconditional no matter what u have become...
9 February
had dinner @ the chuas and upon hubby Ang's request, the whole chuas clan accompanied him to watch this silly movie on netflix just because he wanted to watch this "Only You" scene....
he was laughing till so cute la...
i am wondering if mummy was also laughing at the show or laughing at hubby ang lo.... =P
24 January
full attendance at the chua's reunion dinner .... Yeah!!! all prepared by Angela with the help from Salomi and the supervision of Cai Mummy... 辛苦你们了... 18 January went reunion dinner shopping @ Sheng Shiong after dinner
happy to see that Alfred has become an expert at deciphering what mum is trying to say with her limited vocabulary ....
except for a box of Hello Panda biscuits and a pack of bubble tea mochi, everything else was hand-picked by cai mummy.... she even supervised and gave command to Salomi to make sure that everything in this cart was packed into the fridge and dried food containers according to her system....
happy with the list that burnt a $360 hole in my wallet... 15 January
took Parental Care Leave to accompany cai mummy to TTSH for her radiotherapy review ... "all's good", proclaimed Dr Leong... =D
medical appointment ended earlier and was less draining than i thought it would be so decided to drop by citibank @ macdonald house only to be shock that the branch has CLOSED!!!...
their maxigain account interest has been dropping every few months in the last 2 years and more significantly so in the beginning of 2020... and with the shutting of branches and covid-19 hitting everywhere and anywhere, i guess i better find other banks safer for my kaching kaching soon soon soon...
popped by a:edge exhibition which was happening nearby @ SOTA gallery
interesting interactive creative display near the temperature checkpoint...
this is an annual art exhibition by art teachers in Singapore
interesting pieces that caught my attention this round... =)
this one is so butt cheeky... having fun with my own shadow... =)
heng, i don't have children... it's painful to be a human even without environmental chaos; the disappointment, the betrayal, the hardship that human has to go through in life...
my favourite installation ... luv every part of it; from the opaque, translucent, transparent shadows,
to the notes of hope for our environment from the children in the bottles...
all the way to the arrangement
luv this mega huge, super textile weaving installation too....
this artist teacher's comic is the Singapore version of "When's it Hometime?"
so relatable ...
yes, my aspiration is to be a H.O.T too.... no need leadership role, no need promotion, just let me do the things i want to do so please give all the projects to people who want to climb the leadership or senior teacher tracks....
can we really do this??? .... can do this for lesson ob too???
oh yes.... just GET TO THE POINT!!!
me every Friday too....
one day... one day i will challenge myself to take part in this exhibition too... maybe after being a STAR champion... maybe after i go for my PDL.... maybe after i reached my pay ceiling... maybe after i become an ST... that's quite alot to achieve in the next 17 years before i retire ah.... or maybe i will just quit next term and leave this painful place...
