IVP4402: 3D exploration (4) - Clay carving

bottom is the clay mold which i carved and the top is the plaster cast created by pouring plaster mix onto the clay mold and allowed to harden...

apply a layer of wood dye to act as a paint for the other colours

apply desired colour (acrylic paint with water)

optional: Add gold dust for bling bling effect... =)

made two of these, together with the letter 'H' which Wan gave me and the 'o', 'm', and 'e'
which i made during ceramics class.... me gonna combine all of them into a home decor for home sweet home... =)

IVP4402: 3D exploration (6) - singapore clay (+ soil)

to begin the whole series of lesson on ceramics, leng asked us to prepare a sandwich pack of soil/clay which was dug at least a foot deep from the ground....

and thanks to mr ang's buddy, pk, who got my classmates and me a pail of soil dug up from the construction site which he was supervising currently

 step 1:
mash around the soil to remove any stones and organic beings (leaves, twigs etc), no matter how tiny they might be, within the soil/clay mixture as they will carbonised during the firing in the kiln and cause the pottery to crack or explode!!

Second, make a patty.
Measure and draw a line to indicate 10cm.

Then put it into the kiln to fire.

compare the 10cm length again to measure shrinkage rate of the soil/clay.

Leng demonstrating on how a pinch pot is made....
make a ball, poke a hole on top with your thumb and pinch.... heee

 pinch pot
easy enough for the P1 to try???

Hands on time... =)
dun really like the feeling of the squishy squashiness feel... =S

made a rectangular pinch pot.... =) ... gonna used it to contain all my paper clips in school....

there they are after the first round of firing... =) ... aka know as biscuit/bisque

anyway, gifts from classmates for helping them to get the soil.... actually credit should go to pk and mr ang for ferrying the pail of soil around too.... =)

yummy yummy yummy... =)

Siew Mei's + Zi Chao's wedding at Merchant Court

It was like a major secondary school gathering cos both bride and groom were my secondary schoolmates who got together 6 years ago.... who would have thought of them getting together and 白头偕老-ing while we were back in school more than 18 years ago???? and they claimed that they had not spoke to each other in the 4 years of secondary school life as they were never in the same class.... heeee..... anyway, super happy for them to 修成正果 oh... 真的是恭喜老爷,贺喜夫人啊!!!!

top 3 of their pre-weding photos which i mega luv... so sweet!!!

and so cute!!!!

with the pretty bride.... 真的是女大十八变... 有了Mr Tey 的爱, siew mei 变得好瘦好美喔... =)

so cute... the groom as a 'chao ah beng' and the bride as a goody two shoe in school uniforms for their second march-in.... would be even more perfect if they got hold of our old graph paper school uniform which was scrapped in 2004 to make way for the new design that does not require pupils to tuck in their tops.

传说中有 top class 的脑袋却有 normal tech behaviour 的 4/7

their wedding video which was edited to include their vows and all 26 of us, riversidians ... =)

Singapore's K stands for spa @ Ktm resort

well..... though Ktm resort is located on Batam island, a day trip out of Singapore is all it needs to enjoy the spa service provided by Batam Spa Villa at this sea front resort... =).....

love love love their massage by the sea.... luv it so much that this was my 5th visit lo..... over 5 years though.... wahahahaha....but it's the one and only spa that i'm willing to spend $$$ on.... luv being able to relax and enjoy the massage to the 'real' (not CD) sound of waves crushing onto the rocks below ... luv the big open-air spacious rooms .... and even love the ginger tea served.... heeee

we had purchased the Breeze Day Spa Package at $108 + $27 ferry terminal taxes and + $5 weekend surcharges = total $140.

and for the price we paid, we got to enjoy a 45 minute ferry ride to and fro Batam, transfer from the jetty to the resort, a set lunch and 2.5 hours of spa

collected our ferry tickets from Batam Fast counter at HabourFront Centre, #02-50/51 an hour before the ferry departed at 11.10am...

and we reached Batam, Sekubang ferry terminal within an hour. The representative from KTM resort was already there to welcome us... =)

did a simple and fuss-free check-in and we were ready for our 2.5 hours of spa which includes a 2 minutes foot bath, 45 minutes body scrub, 20 minutes hydro bubble bath and 75 minutes full body massage.... =)

din managed to take any in the process photos so if you really wanna see photos of the place, you can check out these photos from the previous trip in 2011

here's the 4 of us relaxing after a good good 2.5 hours of pure bliss under the skilful hands of the masseurs.... =)

and this was the view right in front of us.... luv it max.... if given an option, i could just lie down here for hours and wouldn't get bored starring at the sea, the sky and the clouds......

btw, the faint outline of skyscrapers is Singapore.... =)

went for lunch, 4菜1汤, provided by the resort and representative drove us back to the terminal to catch the ferry at 5.10pm

reached Singapore at about 6pm...

No photography is allowed in this exhibit... better not also... cos all the exhibits are real stuff dug out from the Egyptians' grave de oh.... not that i am very superstitious.... just that i chose to be more respectful towards the not-living... =P

the whole thing about Egypt is all about the life after death and not the life of the living Egyptian??? really dun understand why such unique obsession during that time... =S
