Venetian Lagoon - Murano, Burano & Torcello
Another day trip... =) ....
Our ticket....
by right supposed to be 20 euro each for a half day trip to the 3 venetian islands.... but i think the counter chap must have thought that both of us look pretty young and asked if we were students....Mr Ang flashed his student card and I said i forgot to bring...and he was so nice as to charge both of us student rate at 15 euro each only.... =)
i din lie..... i really do have my student card at home ah... just that my student card had expired years ago... wahahaha.... =)
decided to have sandwich for lunch before heading out for the half day tour at 230pm...
saw two gondolas on the way to the gathering point at hotel danieli (the one that angelina jolie and johnny depp checked in in the movie TOURIST)...still dun understand why the gondalas are so freaking expensive lo....
us on the tour boat...=)
1st island - Murano - famous for glass making
This old man (above) made this glass horse (below) from that orange orange bally thingy in less than a minute with just the tweezer lo... and after the demonstration, we heard him chuck the glass horse back into the furnace... !!!
we have street lamp on the road...venice has street lamp in the water....
2nd island - Burano - famous for their laces
their laces are not the laces that i know....their laces are actually designs sewn together by white threads...... strand by strand....
There's actually also a leaning tower on this island...just not as famous as the one in Pisa.... it's actually part of the San Martino church
Another famous thing about Burano is the candy coloured houses... read from a travel blog that if homeowners would like to paint their houses, they must contact the government, who will then let one know which colours are permitted for their house....they will never allow two houses of the same colour to be next to each other or even close to each other....
3rd island - Torcello - famous for its super old (639AD) church; Basilica of Santa Maria Assunta
very autumn-ish hor???
On the way back to our hotel, we decided to purchase (finally) just one slice of the green green thingy...we assume it was the nugget which lili jie jie recommended....
though it states 3.20 euro for 100g....just one slice cost us 7 euro lo...heartache... and really not that fantastic... hahaha... we took a pinch each and decided to bring it back to singapore for everyone to have a pinch each too... hahaha... and now it's still sitting in our fridge...=P
The invisible man with his newspaper along the way ...
Mr Ang looked so serious.....what is he up to????
facebook only la.... hahahaha......
ran out of tiramisu with nutella, so had the classic tiramisu instead....so so only but the white drink, sgroppino, which is lemon ice cream with vodka and sparkling wine is super nice la.... no alcohol taste at all... hahahaha...tasted like lemon milkshake instead... i likey.... and only 3 euro...=)
