joined mx at ARTualize's Art Appreciation with Slow Art workshop that she organised for the ADSG members
it's a private art gallery where Ms Sok Leng curates, sells, rents and donates her late father's, Mr Low Hai Hong; a second generation Nanyang artist, huge collection of artworks.
She used the Near to Far & See.Think.Feel approach to get us to talk about the artworks that best & least connect to us...
having to teach about Monet's waterlilies 1918 and van Gogh's The Starry Night to my twos these last 5 years introduced me to impressionism... i have always been amazed at how these seemingly 'messy & random' dabs of paint actually represents the momentary and transient effect of light on their subjects, resulting in a clearer picture only when viewed from further away
Ms Sok Leng took the initiative to connect us to Singapore's oldest artist, Mr Lim Tze Peng's private art gallery which was in the same building.
And we were so so so lucky to meet Mr Lim & his wife who happened to pop into the studio when we were there. According to the gallery-in-charge, it was Mr Lim's first visit since the gallery's opening on 28th Sept...
i find his style very cute & joyous... i like !!!
love his abstract paintings too - bold & vibrant !!!
mx and I then went for steel tongue drum lesson by Drum Feng @ Singapore Cultural Centre
坐着坐着,学着学着,脚麻了,就坐这样了 !!!
playing this brought back memories of me playing the 扬琴 back in jc days... so also bought one to play more this holiday... hopefully it would be a longer 三分钟热度 than the keyboard last year which lasted less than 2 months... 😂😂😂
