Singapore's K stands for spa @ Ktm resort

well..... though Ktm resort is located on Batam island, a day trip out of Singapore is all it needs to enjoy the spa service provided by Batam Spa Villa at this sea front resort... =)..... 

love love love their massage by the sea.... luv it so much that this was my 5th visit lo..... over 5 years though.... wahahahaha....but it's the one and only spa that i'm willing to spend $$$ on.... luv being able to relax and enjoy the massage to the 'real' (not CD) sound of waves crushing onto the rocks below ... luv the big open-air spacious rooms .... and even love the ginger tea served.... heeee 

we had purchased the Breeze Day Spa Package at $108 + $27 ferry terminal taxes and + $5 weekend surcharges = total $140. 

 and for the price we paid, we got to enjoy a 45 minute ferry ride to and fro Batam, transfer from the jetty to the resort, a set lunch and 2.5 hours of spa 

collected our ferry tickets from Batam Fast counter at HabourFront Centre, #02-50/51 an hour before the ferry departed at 11.10am... 

and we reached Batam, Sekubang ferry terminal within an hour. The representative from KTM resort was already there to welcome us... =) 

did a simple and fuss-free check-in and we were ready for our 2.5 hours of spa which includes a 2 minutes foot bath, 45 minutes body scrub, 20 minutes hydro bubble bath and 75 minutes full body massage.... =)

here's the 4 of us relaxing after a good good 2.5 hours of pure bliss under the skilful hands of the masseurs.... =) 




 and this was the view right in front of us.... luv it max.... if given an option, i could just lie down here for hours and wouldn't get bored starring at the sea, the sky and the clouds......

 btw, the faint outline of skyscrapers is Singapore.... =) 

 went for lunch, 4菜1汤, provided by the resort and representative drove us back to the terminal to catch the ferry at 5.10pm 

reached Singapore at about 6pm...

Singapore's P stands for 50 greatest Photographs of national geographic

with the intention to visit just one exhibition, 50 greatest Photographs of national geographic, yee and i ended up visiting all three that are currently held at the ArtScience Museum at only $24 (Singaporean price).... =P

impressed that dissecting a chair can be this beautiful too.... 





dun really know how to appreciate this exhibition which was on furniture creation by Charles and Ray Eames so imagine my delight when we came across this hands-on workshop for all.... heee

 No photography is allowed in this exhibit... better not also... cos all the exhibits are real stuff dug out from the Egyptians' grave de oh.... not that i am very superstitious.... just that i chose to be more respectful towards the not-living... =P 

the whole thing about Egypt is all about the life after death and not the life of the living Egyptian??? really dun understand why such unique obsession during that time... =S

Singapore's M stands for Musical; hairspray

i luv musical but they are so so so expensive and there's a trend of musicals being performed at mbs which was a no-no for me.... no like the narrow and wide stage nor the below par acrostic there after watching riverdance with vivian a few years back.... 


so thanks to joyce, i got to watch Hairspray at esplanade at a 50% discount and only paid $75 for a category B seat on the 1st level .... 


 i hope i dun sound too racist here but the super lanky black dancer was so so so HOT!!!!.....drool......luv how he casually added in those swings of his long arms and legs while he danced... i couldnt take my eyes off him even though he wasnt the main lead.... oopx..... =P 

anyway, found all the songs, with lyrics, in youtube.... there's even a movie with zac efron as the main lead.... sharing some of the songs which i like... =)

Singapore's V stands for Vision challenged activity @ dialogue in the dark




Been wanting to check out Dialogue in the Dark (DiD) since mx introduced it to me a few months back... and finally got to it yesterday with the rss pals... =) 

It's located at Block 5 of Ngee Ann Polytechnic....
just turn right into the first carpark from the main entrance and you will be able to see this red space of DiD


after paying $20 each for the tour and depositing our bags into the free lockers, we played two pre-activity games; 

Game No. 1 - drawing by instructions
those without blindfold would describe the picture provided in terms of shapes and lines while the one in blindfold would draw based on what was conveyed

Game No. 2 - Pick the safety pins
Team Chunyang + Ailing   VS    Team Yuan + Tony

round 1 - gals were blindfolded and had to separate 6 safety pins from a container of rice with the instructions from the boys .....


the guys were complaining non-stop why the gals could not differentiate the difference between the safety pin and the rice which looked so different from each other...until they had a go themselves...it was really not easy.... 


without the use of sight, rice and safety pins really feel the same de.... 

luv this activity.... simple enough to bring back to the classroom as a tuning in activity to teach kiddos about the blind and the importance of taking good care of their eyes.... 

then it was our turn in the dark room.... after a short briefing, we were given a white cane each before being led into a super dark room where blindfold was not even needed to make us feel blind. i couldnt even see ailing at all even though she was just standing right in front of me, barely 30cm away from my nose!!!!

with Wesley, our friendly 48 year old visually impaired tour guide who had a very nice voice, comparable to a young DJ's voice.... very clear, approachable and warm.... =) 

He led us through a park filled with birds chirping. Felt grass, sand and gravels under our shoes and cane. 

A market place where i 'ransacked' a stall 'selling' ginger, onion and garlic... i had to smell the items one by one to recognise what they were..... 

Then, we crossed a busy road at a traffic light, 'molested' a car and a bicycle left right up and down... =P 

Went on a boat ride and felt the wind and splatter of water on our faces.... 

Touched the boots of sir stamford raffles resting on a high pedestal ... i had to tiptoe to touch it.... 

and bought drinks from a cafe....
tony bought ice-cream and fed yuan in the dark!!!!


All of us enjoyed the session and i will be checking out lunch in the dark next.... =)

*I used to be those who will only offer my help to a visually impaired person when i saw that no one else was offering assistance or when help was obviously needed.... though i very much wanted to offer my help at the first instance, i was always too shy and too scared to draw attention to myself in front of strangers....

 it's really not easy to get around without the use of sight so I shall try to put aside my shyness and paisehness and offer my help readily when i see a visually impaired person the next time...
